We have lift off

March 31, 2016

After months of late nights around the kitchen table with endless cups of tea (and glasses of wine), hours pouring over pantone colour charts and constant deliberations over sleeve lengths... Kindred has finally launched!

If you're reading this then you have probably had a mooch about the website and have a pretty good idea about who we are and what we are trying to do. This blog is an extension of that but also a behind the scenes sneaky-peek into the inner workings of all things Kindred. We have lots of other lovely stuff for you to look at on the website too... our "Kinfolk" page for starters, where we pay homage to you brilliant lot for supporting us. Then theres "Kindred Loves..." where we shout about what we love and want to let you know about (we would hate for you to miss out). Then of course, there's the Kindred shop... the best bit (but we are biased).

So why was Kindred born?  In my previous job, as a fashion and lifestyle photo shoot producer, I was away from my family more than I wanted to be and with two young children the juggling was becoming increasingly difficult and stressful. Despite working in and around the fashion industry for nearly 20 years I couldn't find good-looking t-shirts and sweatshirts that were ethically made without breaking the bank. So I decided to do it myself - necessity is the mother of invention after all.

All our t-shirts and sweatshirts have a conscience. They are all 100% cotton, all fair-trade and the vast majority are organic and each design is screen printed by hand in East London. We are inspired by art, music, pop-culture and comfort (the comfort bit is a deal breaker for me). Laid back easy-to-wear pieces that make a subtle but eye catching statement. Perfect if you don't want to think too hard about what to wear but still want to look fashionable and cool. So that's Kindred in a nutshell. There will be more updates on here, so please don't forget to visit again.
